This is the website of Stephen Callaghan and my developing views and approaches to ‘systemically’ informed practice whether  counselling and/or psychotherapy ,coaching,or, consulting to individuals, couples ,families or organisations.

I will,as time unfolds offer a brief introduction to this way of thinking ,understanding and practicing  with the systemic notion of context;without which there is no meaning. We are all embedded in multiple contexts, emerging from social(sic) and also internalised communication, beliefs and values, actions and in-actions which both can constrain and enable us at differing times .

There are also structural influences such as ‘power’ , poverty or wealth, for example, that influence us .

Systemic takes a  starting point context, multiple meanings and viewpoints ,social interaction ,mutual (but not equal) influence or connectedness.

To quote Glenn Larner(2004? ) with respect to family(systemic)therapy (it is )the art and science of context, relationship  and narrative”(stories).
